Moms are underpaid
I read this in a magazine today and though you guys might find it interesting:
"Labor analysts estimate that if a Canadian stay-at-home mom with two children were paid for all the work she does, her annual salary, including overtime pay, would be $163,852(canadian). The figure is based on current market wages and a 100 hour work week consisting of six 15-hour days an one 10-hour day."
Okay, now I think that sounds great. But according to that, I should be getting 9 hours a day to myself and 14 hours once a week! I wish someone had told me that! I wouldn't have bothered getting up for all those mid-night feedings had I know I was off the clock, lol.

My hands were busy through the day ,
I didn’t have much time to play ,
The little games you asked me to ,
I didn’t have much time for you ,
I’d wash your clothes ,
I’d sew and cook ,
But when you’d bring your picture book ,
And ask me please to share your play ,
I’d say ” a little later in the day . “
I’d tuck you in all safe at night ,
And hear your prayers ,
Turn out the light ,
Then tip-toe softly to the door ,
I wish I’d stayed a little more .
For life is short ,
The years rush past ,
A little child grows up so fast ,
They are no longer at your side ,
Their precious secrets to confide .
Now the picture books are put away ,
There are no longer games to play ,
No goodnight kiss ,
No prayers to hear ,
That all belongs to yester year ,
My hands once busy ,
Now are still ,
The days are long and hard to fill ,
I wish I could go back and do ,
The little things you asked me to .

My Favorite Children\'s Book
My very favorite children's book is called, "I Love You Forever" and is written by Robert Munsch, You can read about it and actually listen to the story here: I Love You Forever
I could never read this story to my kids without choking up and shedding a tear or two. We have some other favorites by this author but this one touched me the most.
Enjoy!

Give your children roots and wings.
I don't know who first said, "Give your children roots and wings" but it struck me as excellent advise. It's true children do need strong roots and wings to become self sufficient, productive adults.
Build strong roots for your child with unconditional love, and by teaching and demonstrating good morals and values. Knowing that you love them and are always there for them builds their self esteem. Give your children wings so that they may learn independence and trust them, that they will do the right thing even if they stray off the path for awhile. Learning life's lessons the hard way through personal experience is always the best teacher. Knowing that you trust their judgment and abilities gives them self confidence.
Today's parents face so many challenges, we want our children to be smarter, learn and do more things, sooner, faster, music lesions, sports, the activities available are endless. We want our children to have the best of everything, schools, popular style clothes, best educational toys, newest games, computers, cell phones and so on. We worry about our children's safety and if we are doing the enough for them. Many parents are faced with less time for our children, with both parents needing to work and trying to juggle family activities. It's no wonder we are so overwhelmed and sometimes lose sight of what's really important.
Love your children for who they are and trust yourself to give them roots and wings.
